Okay so when people break laws on behalf of the president and then the president chooses not to enforce those laws against the perpetrators what do you consider it?
To be clear what is happening is a very clear, plain letter violation of the Constitution and federal law. This is not even remotely in dispute.

For me it is fairly clear that if the Department of State successfully argues that his activities/protests "persuades others to support a terrorist organization (Hamas)", then he is deportable under current US law. Am I reading this wrong?

1) For the purposes of this guy that is basically wrong because the state department has zero possibility of showing that. It’s basically asking if he could be deported if he murdered someone. Sure! He didn’t though.
2) We should keep in mind that when they say ‘persuade someone’ they don’t mean ‘say something where someone might decide to join Hamas’. (Obviously the first amendment would prohibit this) It means running a Hamas recruitment center or something similar.
3) the state department refuses to even say what its basis for this action is.
4) Even if he were guilty there is a legal process that must be followed that the state department is not following. (Probably because they know they will lose)
Just pure lawless intimidation from beginning to end.

Why is it zero? He was a leader of a protest that glorified Hamas a designated terrorist organization.
I am not sure about that because as a green card holder he is a guest of the US. From what I have read his actions during the demonstration clearly supported a terrorist organization(Hamas). While a full US citizen would have 1st amendment protection, a green card holder isn't protected the same because they are essentially a guest and the US can deport under the law for something that a US citizen would be protected for as free speech.
I am interested to see what comes up during the legal proceedings and from everything I have seen, he will get his day in court.
How are they not following the legal process? Has he been deported yet?

I don't think that is correct. The 1st amendment makes no mention of citizenship. 1st amendment is a restriction on congress, not a granting of rights to the people.
Saying nice things about Hamas is not even in the same zip code as persuading someone to join it. He could have run a ‘Hamas is awesome’ rally and that would still probably not come close to enough.
I personally doubt he will see his day in court because the administration will lose. The more likely answer is the Secretary of State does an end run around the courts and declares him a foreign policy threat.

Visa holders have significantly fewer first amendment protections than citizens but green card holders enjoy most of the same protections with VERY limited exceptions.
A good analogy here as to why praising Hamas is not even remotely close to enough is how the same guy could say ‘I’m going to kill every Jew in the world’ and he would be entirely within his rights and immune from government sanction for it.
It would be a repulsive thing to say and something he should be condemned for, but it’s also something that’s 100% within his rights to say.

I have that awkward question to ask....
Is there are record of all the guys statements about Hamas? Or is it the typical "Guy supports Palestine therefore he must be Hamas supporter" thing that is popular amongst the popular kids.

I don’t think there’s a transcript anywhere, no. Regardless though saying nice things about Hamas is every green card holder’s right under the Constitution.

The good thing is Mahmoud Khalil has representation so the government attorneys are going to find it difficult to just steamroll him like so many immigrants with zero representation. He will have his day in court and hopefully Mahmoud Khalil will prevail in his case to keep his green card and path to US citizenship.
