Well, apparently we are losing some freedoms.

Now he wants to send natural born citizens to El Salvador. Wait for his defenders to chime in "He would never do that. This is alarmist". Then you remind of all the shit he has already done that he would never do.

This is the intent. The admin wants to empty the schools of international students in favor of (the right) American students.
The issue? there are not enough students, which leads to other ways: full with Russian ones or start to militarize the schools.

It's depressing watching Trump speed run destroying all the levers that actually enabled the US to be so successful on the world stage.
They don't see it as success, they see diversity as a weakness. Racial unity and homogenization of belief is strength to them.

And the shadow docket strikes again. In a 5-4 decision, SCOTUS lifts the TRO on the Alien Enemies Act, with just a little note saying "don't do it again without real process to notify detainees and giving them an opportunity to challenge it". And that's all on top of the fact that the district court was going to hear arguments for the preliminary injunction tomorrow. Just rushing stuff through the shadow docket and bending the knee to a lawless Trump administration.

Smart non-white people moving to the US to study and eventually become permanent residents with professional skilled/scientific jobs has irked the white MAGA underclass at the heart of today’s GOP. They just cannot abide any non-white person being smarter than them and out-earning them.

So Trump did them a solid. He stopped the grants and defunded the Ivy League universities with the best Master’s and PhD programs. He eliminated the government jobs that employed so many of these scientists at NIH, CDC, USAID etc. And now he’s shutting down the pipeline of foreign students and researchers. He doesn’t give a fuck if America loses its competitive edge because American schools aren’t going to produce enough scientific minds to bridge the gap in the next 10-20 years. He gave MAGA exactly what they voted for—which is the ability to feel superior to their non-white neighbors.

Armed FSB go to people's homes and threaten them if they testify.
Did I say FSB? Meant US Marshals under command of the DOJ. Just a little witness tampering, intimidation and threatening with armed agents.
The lines between the United States and Russia are heavily blurred these days. Just a countdown before enough power is consolidated that Concentration Camps are to "correct" dissent.

Apparently it is now a crime to testify to Congress.

US Marshals were mobilized to warn fired DOJ lawyer over congressional testimony

US citizens next on the list, probably.

The reporter wanted to know how the government could legally remove U.S. citizens, and how many would potentially be subject to removal. The short answer is: it can’t, so none. But, Leavitt didn’t say that.

“So, the president has discussed this idea quite a few times publicly, he’s also discussed it privately,” she said, making sure to say that Trump had only discussed “potentially” deporting U.S. citizens.

“These would be heinous, violent criminals who have broken our nation’s laws repeatedly. These are violent, repeat offenders in American streets,” Leavitt said.

“The president has said if it’s legal, if there’s a legal pathway to do that, he’s not sure, we are not sure if there is, it’s an idea that he has simply floated and has discussed uh, very publicly, in the effort of transparency,” Leavitt said.

I can't believe we're losing so many of our freedoms so rapidly. Or that it would be celebrated by half the voters. At this rate he might not even need to deploy a seal team onto liberal justices.

I can, it was crystal clear this was going to happen when (1) the 6 GOP clerics of the supreme court made the president above the law and (2) the Democrats didn't get Biden out of the election in time to have a primary and instead selected loser ass Harris who inspired no one when she shifted hard right, likely after freaking out the right wing consultants she hired for her campaign when she talked about price caps on food. Tbh as fast as things are going to shit, I thought it would be a little faster. Though 11 days from now we will probably get that acceleration I was expecting under this totalitarian regime.
