I don't get the appeal of teams wanting to go to LA. Like, they've already had two teams and nobody gave a shit. Why keep trying to go there?

Then you should approve of this move as no public funding was involved
I don't mind. I'm a Chargers fan and I live in LA. I just meant in general. Still pisses me off when these owners act like the city owes them something. This is business, first and foremost.

Not a good move. It's going to be like NY, where you have a bunch of fair weather fans and bandwagoners split between two teams. A bigger market doesn't necessarily translate to a bigger fanbase.

The new logo. It sucks

Yes it does. The old one was perfect.

That's how it was when the raiders and lambs were in LA... and they moved. Now the lambs are back and worse than ever and the Chargers are leaving San Diego. What's next? An Oompa Loompa with tiny hands becomes president?

The Raiders moved down therein 1982 and won the Super Bowl, still couldn't sell out their stadium seats. After 13 years, they returned to Oakland in 1995.

Don't see that around here. Well maybe there are fairweather fans but it doesn't affect our ability to maintain a fan base for two teams at once. I see a lot of lifelong fans of either the Giants or the Jets - more so for the Giants for sure. But I don't see a parallel to Los Angeles teams, which has NOT proven itself able to support one football team, let alone two.

There's still a ton of Raiders fans in LA. No one ever like the Rams or Chargers, so this is the worst thing for LA, imo. Chargers will be in LV within 10 years.

LoL @ LA "fans." 😀

Somebody got paid real money to design this horrible logo

Ah, Dogbert's brown ring of excellence.

PLOT TWIST! That actually isn't their new logo!

Is this a real Chargers logo?

It’s real in the sense that it was created for the team, it’s being used on the team’s Twitter page and on other official Chargers web pages, and it will be used in other marketing capacities (billboards, stadium signage, etc.). But that’s all, at least for now.

Will this logo replace the arched lightning bolt as the team’s primary logo?

No.

Will this logo be worn on the uniform in 2017, even as a patch?

No.

Could this logo end up on the uniform at some point later down the road?

In theory, yes. In practice, I am not aware of any plans for that to happen.

So what’s the point of this logo?

It symbolizes the team’s relocation to Los Angeles, and will be used to promote the team’s move to its new home.

Why didn’t they just say that when they first revealed the logo?

Good question. Would have made more sense to do it that way (and would also have made my Thursday sooooo much easier).

Actually they are going to be playing in the StubHub Center that seats 30k people, not the Rams stadium.

I was going to go out to SD this next year to go watch the Redskins/Chargers game. Well looks like that's not happening now...

How are they going to make any money?

Yes, new logo sucks. The "old" one was perfect. If they're going to rebrand it should be a new name and not simply a new logo.

Olds, the idea is with a much smaller stadium they'll be able to charge more for seats given the "intimate" stadium. Not sure how that will pan out but I'd much rather go to Stubhub Center than the Coliseum and that's independent of the fact I'm a Chargers fan.

How much of a drive is it from San Diego to L.A.? Something like two hours, isn't it? Many midwestern NFL teams pull in fans to games who drive a lot further than that.

2.5 hours or so to get from SD to StubHub center, assuming minimal traffic. I think the hurdle is why would they bother. They might as well just stay home and enjoy the awesome 70' weather.
