Help!

I installed the SETI GUI (I know, bad, bad...). It is taking FOREVER to complete the first workunit... I am running a Duron 900Mhz (also have Athlon 2100+, but it's my wife's and is running UD), 384MB RAM, SETI is setup to crunch always, screensaver is set to SETI. First SETI workunit has gotten 44 hours of CPU time and is only 64% complete!?!?!? Is this due to the GUI slowdown? This machine has only one other application that takes CPU cycles when idle (DSS Satellite software), but it only takes about 40-50% usage for a second about every 10 seconds.

How do I install the CLI version without losing the WU I'm on? Is there a way?

Thanks,

Svern (Joslins)

Your Duron 900 MHz should do WUs in around 9 hours so you do the math. 😉

I'd delete the GUI CLIENT immediately and install the CLI as per the instructions in my sigline, "Join TeAm AnandTech SETI".

I thought DSS software had to run in DOS? Maybe I'm thinking about something else. :Q

svern(Joslins), you should enable PM (Private Messages) which is located in your PROFILE. The button to take you there is right underneath the NAVIGATION area in the top right of this forum page. 😉

And once more, welcome to the TeAm. 😀

Thanks!

DSS Software used to run in DOS (for H card), but runs in Windows for HU. 😉

Will try switching to CLI now, thanks

Svern

Wow, CLI is much better. First block is 4% done and been running less than 20 minutes. Thanks for the help!!!
