Welcome to socialized medicine!!! Can't wait!

If this is a sign of things to come, I fully support Obamacare.

Annual benefits enrollment started this week for my company for 2011. I logged in and reviewed everything, with the same benefits as I currently have. They currently cost $190/per pay (every 2 weeks). Nothing really changed as I went through regarding benefits, and when I come to the end it tells me:

Costs: $360
Employer contributions: $270
Your cost: $90

I went through and re-checked coverages to see if we are getting crappier coverage than current, and to my surprise it's exactly the same. I don't know if my company just decided to give me more money in my pocket, or if this is due to Obamacare. Frankly though, if this is a sign of what moving towards socialized medicine is going to do I fully support it.

"We will continue to monitor the new law as it evolves, but because we have not made significant changes to our plan, health care reform will not have a considerable effect on the way our plan operates for 2011."

that said, FUCK YOU OBAMACARE FOR TAKING AWAY FSA FOR OTC DRUGS.

Bullshit spidey you lying POS, keep your fabrications in >>>> P&N

Like the OP, we just started open enrollment for this year and instead of ours going up like it has every year, it went down a whopping $2 a paycheck, same exact coverage and co-pays. Nothing to cheer about but it's better than it having gone up. Dental went up though.

Common sense says when you force an insurance company to pay more money out (no maximums, zero copay for preventative stuff, 26 year old "kids" on parents family plan) premiums will go up.

And that's exactly what has happened. It's common sense.

What were the costs and employer contributions before? Did the cost go down or did the employer contributions go up? Is the employer or healthcare provider being compelled by law to do this?

Obamacare is RAISING insurance premiums across the board. You have it backwards.

If that is true, then my company is paying more of that cost WITH increased premiums. Either my company is taking that hit AND is paying more than they did this year, OR my company didn't see an increase in premiums and is paying more than they did this year.

Regardless of which it is, I pay a lot less than I am now. If this is an indicator of what socialized medicine will be, then bring it on.

But you're also forgetting that more people (everyone) will have health insurance.

He said he didn't know if employer contributions went up so doesn't really know what's going on. Employer could have renegotiated rates or switched providers.

It is the exact same plan. Exact same benefits. Exact same deducts. I know for a fact my employer is contributing more.

Then only question is if premiums went up and they took that hit, or if they stayed the same and didn't take that hit. I don't know the answer to that unfortunately.

There is nothing in Obamacare which could be responsible for this, but 2010 was one of the warmest on record. Maybe global warming.

Premiums have gone up and up and up for years now spidey. Stop blaming the black man. What is the evil black man going to do about our dental premiums and $1000 a year limits?!? huff huff Is obamacare responsible for my dental going up again this year?

The announced that my insurance will be going up starting in 2012, due directly in part to the health care bill, which accounts for a big chunk of the expected increases between now and 2020 (as we have "cadillac" health care plans that the Senate thinks are evil and we shouldn't have)

can i stop blaming the black man who keeps breaking into cars on my block as well? cause i mean, people have seen him and he's clearly black, but i don't want to be seen as a racist.

i have a hard time caring what people who don't have jobs or are here illegally get or don't get if it means i pay more in taxes. and considering doctors are still getting paid, there is no other logical source for the money.

We have a re-enrollment meeting at the end of this week. I'm under the impression that the rates will be going up...will be interesting.

And this is the first year you ever saw an increase?

The economy is still in the shitter, but could have it been worse? Who knows.
Healthcare has always gone up, could it have gone higher after the reform? Who knows.

These arguments can't be proven and are frivolous. There's no proof that Obama's plans didn't have a positive effect and by the same token there's no proof that Republicans would of done better.

It is evil...well unless I get to have some of it...
