If this works, we can discuss our opinions of hte markets and economy going forward 12 months out. Or discuss investment strategies, etc.....

The thought for the sticky ..... this time of year, alot of financial shows and publications give predictions for the next 12 months. Why not ATOTers?

I'll start ....

HOUSING MARKET:
I think we will have a soft landing. I view housing prices as dropping up to 10% this year but not much more. Of course, this depends on where you live. This is my opinion of housing in CT. Desired areas like Essex, CT and the CT shore might hold up better and even go up in prices. But on average, I think things are heading south. I hope to move in Summer 2008 (2 years of remodeling and tax free gains later) so things will hopefully hold up well.

STOCKS:
I think this is hte year for value investors. Alot of good stocks have gone no where for 5 years. The best example is HD. Investor outrage over the lack of share price movement caused the exit of it's CEO. Quite a shame for someone who grew shareholder value over the last 5 yeasr by about 20% annually. Go look at the PE and yield. Talk about a value play with good 5 year growth potential. This is my opinion on HD, LOW, TGT and WMT. And the now becoming known by many TJX. Things might not be great over hte next 12 months. Could go up, down or sideways ... but 5 years out, I envision share prices doubling. Other ideas: CAT, MAS, TLB (this thing is down big time), BAC off hte top of my head.

One area to avoid .... REITS! That will not be a soft landing. I envision a 50% slide. It's a matter of when, not if.

My 12 month prediction. The major indices will go no where. Go look for value for your gains.

Anyways, anyone up for the sticky?

A sticky can't have a misspelling in the first line.

Your attempt at fame has failed.

The problem with HD and Lowes is that alot of their profit is tied to home remodels and building. That market is drying up as the housing bubble pops, so their stock might not fare too well in that regard. I cant raelly see any clear evidence of any particular sector having a good year, maybe gold since the Dems are in power and will likely weaken the $$ with overspending. Anyhoo, Im fairly defensive this year, with mainly large caps that pay out fat dividends.
