I got my 40x4 character LCD (parallel port) working, and I really love it. But there's a small problem.

When I use Lorty's plugin (lorty.mp3car.com), the Spectrum Analyzer is slightly weird. Instead of solid blocks toward the bottom, I get solid blocks with little "P" characters "cutout" from them. See the attached pictures to see what I mean. The P's only appear when a full block is displayed in the Spectrum Analyzer, which you can see from the 5 second movie. I'm using windows ME. Other plugins with Spectrum analyzers work fine.

Note: Movie is about 2 megs, pics are 20k each

Thanks for the help.

I dont know the answer to your question but that is a cool project. If you can, can you please give me all of the info about your lcd and how you did it. I'm planning on adding one within the next month or so.

how odd...

here's the info of where to get the lcd, and how to put it all together

one tip...don't plug it into the 12v line..."it tastes like burning" except, it smelled that way, I didn't really taste it...anyways, I gotta get a new one.

OH, and i found it easiest to use a floppy ribbon cable. On the LCD screen, there are pins, it was really hard to try and solder them on, so I figured out that I could use a floppy ribbon cable, so that it could be detachable, and it's easier to seperate the wires on the ide cable, then solder them to the printer cable like that, rather than soldering the printer cable wires directly to the lcd screen.
