Weirdest. Problem. Ever.

For some reason my computer mutes itself (doesnt play sound) anytime a new program loads. I have to go to sound settings and mute and then un-mute the sound for the sound to start up again. I have never had anything like this happen to me before and I can't figure it out. Does anybody have any ideas on what this could be? I am running XP.

Do you have onboard and a sound card? If so, try disabling onboard in bios.

You might try reinstalling your sound drivers. A few years ago, my sound was acting all screwy and I reinstalled my drivers and that fixed it. Granted, that was when I was running Windows 98, but still...
