I wasn't sure where to post this, so I picked General Hardware. Here's the deal. I just bought the WinFast TV2000 XP Deluxe card from Newegg this week. I hooked everything up and installed all the drivers, so everythings okay, right? WRONG!

I don't have the cable TV hooked up because I don't have TV in my room right now. (At home for summer). So I want to use the FM tuner. But there is NO Sound. HOWEVER, I can record a song on its radio and playback and I can hear it! Also, when I go into the settings if I do a volume testing then I can hear it, but when I choose ok and go back to the tuner NO sound!! PLEASE HELP! I'm so confused!

You have it hooked up to the line in on your sound card right? make sure the line in on your sound card playsback on your speakers as well...

Yes, the cables are all correct. No offense, but they would have to be because when I "test" the volume in the FM Tuner I do get sound. It's just that when I apply the settings and return to the tuner, then I don't get anymore sound.

Go into your audio panel and see if Line-In is muted. Wouldn't hurt if you gave us your system specs either :)

Are you using Norton anti virus?
I had the same problem.
There's something wierd with Norton and the Winfast program.
Disabling MSN messenger protection solved the problem for me.

Also if you are using digital speakers you need to select line in as
a digitized input.

If you still can't find an answer, don't be embarrased to post in the Hot Deals forum thread for this card. It has well over 1000 posts and a large proportion of the posts are technical. Good luck.

Okay. Is there anyway to post an image in the forms? Or do you just have to provide the link? I guess it doesn't matter this time.
I have included this Image to show yall what I mean. The arrow is pointing to the "Volume Setting, Testing Sound. In the image it is pressed down. When I press it down I CAN hear music with this configuration. As long as I leave it like this I CAN hear music. But if I press "Okay" or the Check Mark at the bottom of the image to go back to the FM Tuner then I LOSE sound I can NOT hear it then! Sounds very weird to me. Hope this helps.

Asus A7N8X Deluxe rev. 1
Athlon XP2400+ Barton
Onkyo Reciever with Yamaha Bookshelf Speakers
I'm running the sound FROM my sound card TO my reciever via the Digital coaxal connection on the back of the board. For some reason my analog sound doesn't work, so I have to do everything ditially.

you should've pointed to the thread instead, he posted a new thread in Hot Deals and he's gonna get flak.

Yes, I have downloaded all the newest drivers for both my sound card and TV Card. Unfortunetly I can't take a picture of that because I don't have a digital camera :frown:

What I can do though is show you what my mobo looks like and tell you how I have it hooked up. Hopefully that will be enough. Mobo
This is what my mobo looks like. I have a Monster cable going FROM the YELLOW SPDIF connector TO my reciever. I have the TV Tuner card Audio OUT going TO the Audio IN on my mobo. Hope that helps.

What are your settings in Winfast config:
Audio Device and Audio-Out Control Line?

This statement here bothers me. Has your analog sound ever worked? Have you tried just hooking up headphones to the motherboard sound out and seeing if everything works bypassing the Digital out?

After reading through the thread that I posted on the TV-boards forum, I'm not sure that product is the most complete piece of working hardware. Tried anything from Hauppauge or ATI? This sounds more like a program problem that could be fixed in a future software release from Leadtek.

Yes, I used to be able to directly hook up my headphones to the built-on audio out. But about...5 or 6 months ago it didn't work for me. I can't hook up my headphones anymore because no sound will come out. Since I have the SPDIF I decided to just do everything digitally and use my reciever. I can't explain how my analog would fail but my digital would still work. That is weird to me. But it works digitally so I guess.

If I were you, I'd try another sound card. Start fresh by:

1) Uninstalling all sound/Winfast drivers
2) Disable onboard sound
3) install new sound card
4) Double check all connections on hardware
5) Install sound card drivers, reboot, test sound via Winamp, games, etc.
6) Reinstall winfast TV software from website/disk, reboot
7) Test and see what works.

Like I said above, could be a bug in the Winfast software that might be rectified in a future release, but if you analog out on your onboard sound card stopped working, might be problems with the digital out.

Thanks to all, especially RyDogg1 for all your help! I found out my NVIDIA drivers needed to be updated. Then, in the SoundStorm options I found that I needed to digitize my input! When I did that it worked!! WOO HOO!! Okay, so maybe I'm a little too excited, but it's cool. Thanks Y'all!

Glad you got it working. What version of the Winfast PVR are you using? It looks quite a bit different from my Winfast Video Capture driver is version 5.13.1.243 (wf2kVcap.inf) dated 6/13/02. Yes, it's old, obviously, but my Winfast config has things yours doesn't, including the option to split a file when it gets to a certain prespecified size. I have this set to 2 GB. It makes the slider to change locations in recordings a lot more responsive when the files aren't too big. This setting limits the size of each segment of a recording, in my case to 2 GB. Maybe they've moved that to a different window... ?

The version I found when I searched for (wf2kVcap.inf) was: "12/12/2003,5.13.1.274" All I did was to go Leadtek and download the lastest drivers for the WinFast TV2000 XP Deluxe. I havn't tried to capture any TV shows yet to see if it will split the files, but you can be sure I will when I find a good show to record. Hope this helps ya out.
