Hello all,

Reinstalled Win2k tonight to hopefully correct some other issues... now I have a really weird display problem. It's really hard to explain, so here's a link to a screen cap:

link

You can see the title bar at the top is complete gibberish... I get that if I'm surfing the Net in IE. Other menus, like the ones in the taskbar icons and the drives in My Computer display nothing but the first character of the item. Winamp, however, doesn't have this problem... :)

What the heck is going on? I had this problem before the reinstall...

System specs:

Athlon 650 classic @650 (AMD AGP & IDE drivers installed, AMD AGP video patch applied)
Gigabyte 7IX
256MB Corsair PC133
Maxtor 30GB
Matrox Marvel G400 (using latest beta drivers and beta video tools)
SB Live Value
3Com 3c905B NIC

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

Looks like you have a corrupted font file or the font you selected may not display correctly. If you have a program that displays how the font looks on screen you can scroll through all your fonts and find one that appears the same as your upper line font looks. Then go into the menus and see if you can change that font to Arial or something easy to read like that.

Since your screen capture otherwise looks very sharp your VGA card must be functioning correctly.

I do not have Win2K but in Win98 SE right click on your opening screen. Select Properties from the menu. In the Display Properties menu click on the APPEARANCE tab.

Click on the Active Window or Inactive Window lines and check which font is selected in a lower FONT: list.

It is normally set as "MS Sans Serif (Western)." Mine is set at 7 point size but that is because I have the screen set at a high resolution at 1152x864 True Color 24-bit on a 19" monitor.

My overall zoom level is set at 135%. That menu is found in the SETTINGS tab and clicking on the ADVANCED button.
