weird usb problem just started, i have a digital camera that uses smart media card, the serial port on camera went bad so i bought a USB card reader from Kingston, this reader worked fine on 98SE and XP pro always, even with this motherboard above.
All at once it started rebooting computer anytime i pull the smartcard from the reader, if inserting, it works fine.leave it in, works fine, just cant pull card without a reboot.
I have deleted and reinstalled drivers for both the reader and USb, no difference, just dont know where else to look, any ideas anyone? TIA

Might be a power problem, try a powered usb hub for kicks. Also, try stopping the device before taking the media card out.

what do you mean stop the device? its a card reader,no moving parts, and PSP or win exp when viewing i close program before pulling card and still happens. oh well, can live with it i guess.

When he says try stopping it, he means try stopping the device before you take it out. I'm assuming you're on XP, in which case there's a little gray card with a green arrow on it in the taskbar (by the clock)...double click on that, pick out your smart card reader and press "stop device" or something like that. Give it a minute and it should tell you it stopped sucessfully. See if that works.

Okay thanks, didnt know what i was sposed to "stop" on a card reader.BUt, when you stop it, then no drive H is there. I have to then unplug the USB cable and plug it back in, thast more of a pain than the original problem, oh well, live with it i spose.

You running any AV programs, something that might be trying to touch the drive at removal?
