Weird USB Game Controller Recognition Problem

Hi all,

I need some advice in order to determine my next move with this situation.

I recently obtained a USB game controller (dance pad, specifically) that is supposed to work without drivers. I want to hook the controller a computer running Windows 2000 but it does not recognize the function of the peripheral. It only registers as "USB Device" with incorrect drivers. On this same computer, other USB products work fine. Both a USB Wingman gamepad (drivers are installed here) and a USB DVD drive (plug and play) work absolutely fine, but this dance pad is unrecognized and unusable.

On another computer running Windows 2000, the dance pad is recognized and works immediately. Why is it that this one computer will not recognize the device? If the USB hub is the problem, I can just swap one in, but if it's something OS related, I'm afraid I might be out of luck here. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for your help.

It might not work right with a hub...
...
Try plugging it right into the PC...
If Windows still doesn't get it, see if Windows can find drivers on the net for it...

Actually the the USB ports that don't register are on the motherboard; I just referred to that section as the hub.... On the computer that does work proper though it is hooked up to a PCI USB hub. I was thinking of putting that hub in the PC with the problem, but don't know if that's going in th e wrong direction.

I spent about an hour looking for drivers, but there are none, no user reports I found mentioned any, and all retailers that sell it mention how it doesn't need drivers.

Try it...
As it may need USB 2.0 and the mobo only has 1.1 while the PCI has 2.0...
Heck I'm shoting in the dark on that but it's worth a try...
