Weird turning signal problem

I have been driving my van and was unaware of a problem I had. It is that the right turn signal wont work.

The back right stoplight was out also so I replaced that with a new bulb and I got brake lights again. The Front right light was out so I also replaced that bulb and it goes on. Then I attempted to use the right turn signal again but it still would not work.

I then turned on the headlights and the back lights work(not the turn signal) but the front goes off and does not work.

The left lighting system works fine. I find it strange why turning the headlights on would turn the right bulb off for the front.

What could be the problem? A short maybe?

Are these new style bulbs with plastic bases that pretty much can't be installed wrong or the old style with brass bases? The old style have two nubs 180º apart that index them but it's easy to put them in wrong.

Recheck the bulb part number you put in the tailights. Likely you got the wrong one. And check your front side marker bulbs as these also usually blink with the turn signals and if it is bad, turn signals won't work properly either.

The back uses 1157 and the front uses 1157NA. I might have to check the side blinker as I dont remember seeing it blink.
