Weird Thunderbird issue

Red Squirrel

No Lifer
I recently migrated my parents from my IMAP server to a local pop3 data store and all was good but now whenever they send an email, the other person never gets it. I tested and witnessed this for myself. I tried reinstalling, no go. I backed up the profile and cleared all the profile data then created a new profile, and it works. I reinstalled again. Then I put in the old profile back, same issue.

I did a packet sniff and it does communicate to the server and the email is accepted and all, I just don't get why the end user never gets it. It's not going in the spam box as I tried sending to myself at home and same thing. I host my own mail server so I know as a fact no mail gets blocked anywhere.

Anyone ever seen this before?

Time for reinstall of windows... noticed their firefox is screwed up too. When you open it it opens two windows, one of them being super tiny right in the corner. Ii've seen this issue before and the only fix is to reinstall windows. Sucks.

Delete Thunderbird and Firefox profiles and try again...a lot easier than Windows re-install.

Before you do a OS reinstall, try another email client to rule out server/ISP/malware problems.

Yep tried that. I telneted directly into the smtp server and sent an email just fine. I also work for the isp and used to work at the help desk so I emailed the guys there to check it out and everything looks ok. No RBL blocks or anything.

I also noticed their AV software is completely gone. I think they got some kind of virus as they're no longer setup through my IMAP mail server (which filters viruses/spam).
