Weird sound problem

Basically I'm having an error similar to the one described http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=95943&hl=. The only difference is that the preview sound button is greyed out. I can't hear anything in Flash files or in Guild Wars (I haven't tried other games). I only noticed it earlier today after I got an error in Teamspeak, but it might have been going on longer. I uninstalled Teamspeak and the drivers for my soundcard, and then reinstalled the newest drivers but still no luck. I've got a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, and my onboard sound is disabled. I also tried using my onboard sound (I disabled my Santa Cruz so it wouldn't interfere), and that didn't help at all. Playing through wmp or winamp I can hear, so I'm stuck. I tried testing the sound in dxdiag and I didn't get any errors that way. The solution in that other topic didn't help me either.
