I absolutely love zesty dill pickles. Where I'm at, they are expensive - and come in spears. I know there has to be some combination of spices that I can dump into a regular economy jar of kosher spears that after time will make them nice and zesty, too.
I tried jalapeno peppers cut up and tossed into the jar. They do get a different taste - a little heat - but nowhere near as good as the brand name zesty ones. . .
Thoughts?
