Weird Ram Problem

I am upgrading a friends HP 8526 (550 PIII, 64mb ram). First, these things suck, NO room to work on Mobo. Stock is 64mb pc100 SDRAM. I tried installing a stick of 128MB PC133 (tried in 2nd slot with 64 in 1st, then with 128 in 1st and nothing in 2 or 3. Computer would not post, I kept getting long beep, then long beep, then long beep and it kept continuing.

I also tried flashing the bios from the updated bios at HP website and when it gets to flash ram (or determine type of flash ram, forget what it said), it just hangs there.
Anyone help? Thanx!

You probably have incompatible RAM.

Much of the very cheap RAM that you see these days is high density x4 type SDRAM. This type of RAM will not work on Intel chipset based motherboards; that system that you have probably has an Intel chipset on the motherboard.
