weird question for a friend

If your roommate was sneaking through your stuff while you were away. Assuming you could get them on video doing it, what could you do legally?
 
ummm its not me....my friend who is a girl and whos roommate is a girl. She has told her many times, but she continues to do it. So thinking about videotaping...but then what could come of that legally?
 
She should punch her roommate in the kidneys. That will show her.

I don't know what video-taping will do - unless she was actually stealing stuff, the tape would be pretty worthless. Put a lock on the door - either a padlock on the outside of the door for when she is gone or replace the door knob with a fixture that has a real key lock.

Going through your stuff in a shared dwelling is not a crime, if she were actually taking something then it would be.
 
Tell her you will setup the camera, and put one in the shower as well. It is the only way to be safe......

It wouldn't be worth squat legally, but the shame and point factor, combined with the possilbe threat of Youtube would be well worth it.

Did I mention her parents seeing the vid? Ooooooooooooo, that would be one sweet threat.

 
Find something she doesn't like.
Like leave a dump under her covers.
And than say "See, how do you like it?"
 
Get a lockable cabinet? (like a file cabinet) and put stuff you don't want her going through in there.

Get a locking handle for your door?

Hide in the closet and wait for them to come in and snoop through her stuff and bust them?

If the videos I've seen on the internet are any indication, every single time someone sets up a hidden camera, people end up having sex. Clearly, in this case, it would be a "hot lesbian lovefest," which could then be sold on the internet. Legally, you'd want to verify the age of everyone appearing in the video.
 
1. Get a cheap webcam, point it at the stuff and set it to take pictures when it detects motion.
2. Report $200 stolen to RA.
3. Show pictures to everyone.
4. Profit.
