weird question... can a car be started without a key or hotwiring?

I can start many cars with a screwdriver and one or more bits of wire from inside the engine compartment. But the steering wheel lock will get you.

my 95 taurus could be started without the key

in fact, the key liked to fall out all the time. and it was worn down to nothing.

my friend in college had a late 90's saturn.....and guess what....didnt really need a key. He started the car and then took the key out of the igniton while it was still running and didnt stop the engine. He had to run back in the house to get his wallet, he took the key out and it was still running.....I was like WTF! he showed me the key, all the special cuts and marks were worn off.

Hey I drive a saturn 🙂 and my key comes out of the ignition after the cars been started... I pull my key out all the time and cram it in my air vents to adjust the direction because the little knobs broke off. Or I leave the car running and grab my keys to get into my apartment... My s-10 truck does the same thing..
