I got a abit geforce4 ti4200 and its been working fine but recently after installing omega nvidia drivers Ive been having serious problems. It was to a point where i couldnt get in windows so i went into safemode deleted the drivers and installed nvidias latest ones. now I can boot up but am getting weird discolored characters when I boot and in windows get green dots everywhere. Is reformatting my best bet or should I get a new video card? I appreciate any help in this matter.

*heres a pic of the problem I get it everywhere and its very annoying

Try removing the drivers with a utility like Driver Cleaner. Then reinstall the drivers you want to use.

Check to make sure the fan on that card is working good. I'm thinking heat may be causing the artifacts. Good Luck

I thought that too because if I turn it off for awhile it helps a bit with them. But only on boot-up. I got a new fan and the heatsink is fairly cool and I still get it.
