I'm having problems uploading ANYWHERE/sending email/posting in MOST forums.

1) I have tried to connect through the router

2) I have tried to connect directly to the modem

3) I have tried a second nic card out

4) I have tried out win2k

5) I have tried out winxp

6) I have tried out a few network cables as well

Thing is my dads comp is FINE!

Only thing is that he cant upload when connected to the router. But when connected via the modem only it is fine.

Now why would my comp have problems and his comp not to have any problems? At work I can go on the net just fine.

The only possibilities is the router or isp. Thing is I cant upload when even directly connected with the modem.

This is a FAR out shot, but these problems have been happening to me ever since I started using a friends verizon newsgroup account. Could they have for SOME reason excluded my address/mac address/internal ip from certain services?

Okay, I just installed the gay mindspring connection software "winpoet" and I can upload with this gay software installed.

Thing is that I still cant upload when connected via the router. This makes no sense, since it wouldn't work when I was using windows xp's default dialer for pppoe dialer.

This kinda makes me think that they want ppl to use the dialer vs. router, So that less of their bandwidth will be taken.

Then again I think that I would hear more ppl talking about it if this was true.

Then again.... I will download 2gb a day if given the chance, so maybe they do this on only high bandwidth users?

i guess you need to find some hetro software.......

That just might help :D

TheLizardMan: You should check with the manufacturer of your router to see if they have newer firmware which addresses this issue. You may have one of the earliest of the PPPoE-enabled firmware versions.

(PPPoE sucks, imho)

Dumb question but when you are hooked up to the router are you still using PPoe on the computer??? If you are you probably need to set up the computers as if they were on a LAN and setup the router itself to do the PPoe thing.

Good Luck,

I am having the EXACT same problem. It seems that I can't upload more than 8K(8192bytes). If any upstream activity exceeds 8K in size in one single session, it will time out on me. I'm connecting my DSL to D-Link 713P router. This problem doesn't happen when I have my DSL modem connected directly to my PC and using WINXP PPPOE to connect. This also happens on my D-Link 704 router. And yes I did choose PPPOE as the connection type in my router setup. Everything is working fine except for the uploading part.

I also have Earthlink/Mindspring DSL. MY friend has Earthlink too but he's not experiencing this problem, but he's not using a router.

And I do have the latest firmware installed.

FINALLY someone else with the same problem.

I tried a Linksys router as well as my 3com. None of them work!

I have Verizon (PPPoE), I hate it with a passion cuz it's a bitch to set up home networks. I didn't have a choice when it came to broadband in my area. Try to opt for cable if you can man, or get some type of always on connection.

If you XP, use their PPPoE instead of wasting time with ISP's installer... It's just junk. Try updating firmware/software, etc. You've probably tried to do all this stuff already. Have you talked to your ISP about internet connection sharing?

Also, don't waste your money buying a router, cables, etc. if you're planning to network w/ an existing internet connection. I called Verizon up and they'll offer you a gateway ($99) so you can use multiple PC's for the same internet connection line. But the big bonus for me was that the internet connection would NOT be shared, meaning we wouldn't have to split the 1.5Mbps in to (if you were to network). They would configure the internet connection to have 1.5Mbps for both computers.

After hearing that, I was kind of sceptical. I'm getting the gateway this week and we'll see if this really lives up. I'll repost if I am satisfied.

I'm pretty skeptical that you will have 2 computers each receiving 1.5Mbps. Let us know what happens.

Sounds like you just bought a $99 router. A piece of hardware is not going to increase your bandwidth, your line is limited to 1.5Mbps so unless they are doing something at their central office to your line, anything you do on your end won't change that.
