Weird problem.

Whenever I try to run any file that plays visual media the player being used almost screeches to a halt and the entire system slows way down.

What could that be?

Help definitely wanted!

I tried Quicktime, Windows media and winamp. All had the same effect.

Yes, I updated my codecs.
