Weird Problem with PM's

I have a member on my buddy list, and instead of having the on or off line symbol, I have a flashing PM icon.

I have no new PM's from this member.

Weird.

This is a rather vague problem that's known by a few of us but not acknowledged by the "powers that be" because it can't seem to be duplicated on a regular basis.

Simple solution is to delete the user from your Buddy list and then add them back in - the icon will go away and you'll be able to send and receive messages to that user again. 😉
 
As networkman put it so eloquently (rolleys), we've seen this before, but it wasn't reproduced to the point of finding the issue. Networkman, welcome to the world of software, where windows and unix still have hundreds, if not thousands of open bugs just like everything else. When an issue is found and reproduced it is fixed, but when it?s vague, and only happens once and awhile they aren't quite as easy to nail.
 
I had the same problem a couple of times, but it seemed like the trigger for *most* of those cases was when I was subscribed to a thread started by a user and also had that user in my buddy list. Has that been looked into?
 
No offense Zuni, I was in kind of a dark mood when I posted that reply. 😱

But yes, I know well the feeling myself - working as a PC/Network tech, I've run into myriad problems of the same nature and they're just as frustrating when hardware based as when software based. 😉
