Hi,

System:

Athlon 750mhz
128 SDRAM PC133
Abit Ka7 - Ultra1000
Windows 2000 Pro

I have an unusually problem with Win2k. Whenever I restart the system, my system would bootup like usually, and go into the screen that says win2k startup. On the first trial, instead of going into the screen with the light blue background and then asking me for the login/password, win2k would reboot again. This happens everytime. In other words, the system would boot twice before win2k works. Does anyone know what's going on?

*this system is brand new and is NOT overclocked.

I've noticed a problem by looking through the Event Logs. I see everytime I reboot and Win2k would second boot the system again, there is an error that comes on every time. The error is,

Event Type: Error
Event Source: WinMgmt
Event Category: None
Event ID: 37
Date: 6/30/2000
Time: 2:29:39 PM
User: N/A
Computer: *

Description:
WMI ADAP was unable to load the winspool.drv performance library due to an unknown problem within the library: 0x0

------------------------------------------------

Event Type: Error
Event Source: WinMgmt
Event Category: None
Event ID: 36
Date: 6/21/2000
Time: 9:38:04 PM
User: N/A
Computer: *

Description:
WMI ADAP was unable to load the Spooler performance library because it returned an invalid return code: 0x80041001
-----------------------------------------------

Please post if you have any idea on what those two errors mean and how exactly to fix them. Thanks in advance.

I get the event log message on my home box , but I am not experiencing the 1-out-of-2 boot-ups that you are.

I am not sure if I see the same events on my Win2K box at work ... and I won't find out until Wednesday. :)

You may be having some other problem on login when you enter your pasword and login, its fine, but after that win2k loads up more drivers and possibly they are conflicting with some hardware and rebooting you. There is a setting in your control pannel that says "autoreboot on error" or show me the bosd. "blue screen of death" on error. Your setting is prob. rebooting so you never see the blue screen. Turn the auto reboot off. Can you get in through your safe mode?

Hey,

It seems this weird situation with the Win2k crash only happens if and only if I turn off my system and then back on. If I just restart it, Win2k boots up without a problem. If I turn off the system power and then boot the system back up, WIn2k would crash on first trial. This is really becoming annoying. I just got this new system. There is no error as far as the hardware device settings. There is no conflict.

I'm running WIn2k Pro. I see that my video card, sound card, and network card are ALL sharing IRQ 11. Win2k crashes if and only if I power down and power back up. Win2k boots normally if I just restart. I've tried to change the IRQ on all those cards, but WIn2k would not allow it.
