Weird problem with my pc

I recently built a new computer. Everything works fine on it but every now and then I hear a high frequency whine coming from it. I've checked all the fans it's not coming from them. I'm thinking it could be coming from the power supply, or the hard drive. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the help thanks.

I suppose only you can tell us where the whine is coming from. If you can reproduce the high frequency whine and you suspect the hard drive or power supply, unplug the hard drive and that will tell you where it's coming from. My guess is if you have a cheap power supply, thats probably where its coming from.

Hrmm unplugged the hard drive noise is still there, checked the dvd drive not there either. Power supply isn't really a cheap one it's an antec truepower650 i'm hoping it's not that. That will be a pain to remove.

I'm no expert on this, but I think I've read that capacitors on some motherboards can cause high pitched noise. You might list your motherboard and also might do a google search on that motherboard as to whether or not there are capacitor problems with it.

My motherboard is the ip35 e. I think the problem is my graphics card I can disable and the noise seems to go away i'll keep testing to see if that's what it is. The problem is that it doesn't happen all the time so, it's difficult to test. I have to try and troubleshoot when the noise shows up.
