Weird problem with Laptop LCD

Hello,

I have a 2 year old Sony Vaio laptop. It was working without any problems, until it went into sleep mode yesterday. After coming back from the sleep mode, there were 2 white/grey lines across the screen (very close to each other). At first I thought they were from the sleep mode or from preexisting windows. Unfortunately after multiple restarts they are still here.

Any ideas on why or how it happened and how to fix it?

Thanks,

hope ya still got an extended warranty. That looks a bit permanent. I am no guru, but it looks like those pixels forgot to change from grey.

EDIT: It may have happened due to exposure to heat.

Unfortunately no warranty... I do not think that it was heat the problem since it happened while it was in sleep mode where there is no heat.

Here is what happened: I was using it, then I left for a bit and the laptop went to sleep. I returned 30 min later, closed the lid (it was open before) and left again. When I got back about 2 hours later, I turned it on and there were the lines...

I would open the bezel and unconnect the lcd cable. Clean it just for the heck of it and reconnect it. See if that works. It might just be the lcd panel going out on you.

Hello,

I have opened the laptop before to clean the heatsink cause it was getting clogged up and didn't have proper airflow... Anyway... I opened and played with the cable with no luck. Connections seem fine and I cleaned it but nothing changed...

It is hard for me to believe that sooo many pixels in such order can get stuck at the same time... I did not move it or drop it or anything... They just stuck with the laptop just sitting there.

In 1996 when I had a $2000 Sony VAIO desktop PC, their support was SUPERB.

Thats all the experience I have had with them.
