Weird problem with file deletion in XP-SP2

Client has 3 files all 0 KB on her desktop that can't be deleted...

I've tried taking ownership of her profile, made sure it's not read only, safe mode, and ran spyware and anti-virus...all came up negative. Ran out of ideas..what else can I do?

When I right click properties on one of the files, it does not have the security tab, so I had to go one level up to take ownership...but that did not help at all.

any ideas?

try running chkdsk /f at a cmd prompt

it will require you to reboot then it will do a scan and fix anything it finds wrong.
