weird problem with digital camera LCD

Long story short, while fixing my girlfriends digital camera, I broke it

Anyway, I've got everything back to working, except the LCD, which is obviously a big problem.

If I power up the camera, with the LCD plugged in, I get some weird distortion on the screen on the left half of the screen (right side in this pic) ( You can see it in this pic that I took here (sorry about the crappy quality).

I've taken out and reseated the data cable that goes from the camera to the LCD and that has not fixed the problem.

Does this look like anything you've seen before?

The picture that you speak of doesn't seem to be linked in your post. Are you sure the problem is the LCD? To test, take a picture, upload the file to the computer and make sure there's no distortion. I don't know what the distortion looks like but something may have become separated inside the LCD, as well. You may also have better luck in technical support, don't know.

sorry, I fixed the link.

I'm not sure if the problem is the LCD, or if it's the cable that goes from the camera to the LCD, or the camera itself.

My best guess is it's probably the cable, but if so I don't know how to fix it.

Make sure it's the LCD and not the imaging sensor. My camera acts up occasionally and I have to give it a few taps. Sometimes my pictures are distorted so I know it's the imaging sensor, not the LCD. My LCD was merely displaying distortion caused by the imaging sensor. Take a picture with the camera, upload to your computer and make sure there's no distortion.

Well, I took a picture with it and looked at it on my pc. The picture was fine, so the problem is either the LCD or the LCD cable.

Alrighty... I now know the LCD is fine. The problem seems to be 1 trace on either the cable, on on where the cable inserts.

When the cable is properly seated, there is no picture. If I push up on one side of the cable, I get a clear picture.

I've looked at this cable and there doesn't seem to be any problems with any of the traces.

My best guess is that somehow one of the contacts where the cable gets seated is somehow pushed up. It's so small that I can't see inside though...

This is gonna need some creative thinking I think.
