It's the dreaded "Coppermine" vs "Creative" issue. jk. First check your IRQ settings for conflicts. Try changing your display adapter to Standard (VGA). Reboot and enter safe mode. Remove any other display adapters in Device Manager. Reboot to allow Windows (you are using Windows?) to detect new hardware and reinstall drivers.
I had a similar issue with several video cards in times past and I had to install a PCI video card and follow the aforementioned process to change to Standard VGA. Then I reinstalled the AGP, followed the steps to recover performance. Try calling Creative's tech support. They are in Okla and are available until 10:00pm Central. I have good experiences with them. The waits are not very long as it is probably long distance for you.

I just checked and the Annihilator 2 was the only adapter listed. Could it be the latest drivers? I hope I dont have a bad video card :(

I've had the same problem you had. I would be playing Diablo2, then my monitor would go blank. This was in my ol' Celly 300A@450. Never really got a right answer. I'm using the Detonator 3 drivers, and this problme has disappeared. I also read at the Hercules site that, sometimes, the refresh rate can be set too high, which launches a monitor into a saving feature (so one does not destroy one's monitor). I guess I should mention that I have an Optiquest v75.

how did I solve this problem? I do not use any of Creative's crappy programs. I think that is a major portion of the problem.

nvidia reference drivers all the way!!! Actually I have found very little use for manufacturers drivers. Except with my ASUS V6800 in which case the green and red video signals were swaped on the TV out without using the ASUS drivers.

I had the same problem, tho it was an actual defective CL card. Make sure if you've ever had a Voodoo card installed on that system that you've manually wiped all the data off the HD. To do so, just goto find files and type in 3dfx.*, then search, delete everything, then search for glide.*, and do the same thing. Also, might want to check for voodoo.* as well. Next, make sure you have the most recent drivers, and also make sure your system isn't running to hot. Hope those help.

That's for sure with the Voodoo. Their installation software is nice in that it automatically sets your system to standard adapter, etc. But it will stay resident and repeatedly attempt to reinstall the voodoo after it is gone. Be sure you get any leftover .inf files. Might also search the registry. I also have diminishing respect for Creative. Their products are supposed to be the industry standard(s) but they seem to have more conflict problems than any brand I have compared with.

Um, you MAY want to reinstall Windows again, just to ensure that there is no 'residue' from the FastTrax drivers.

Try the newest drivers (6.18's) and something known to be good (5.32's were v stable I believe).

If the problem's still there you COULD try reinstalling windows to clean it all out but this shouldn't be necessary. Give it a good kickin' and see if that does the trick :)
