i installed nero home essentials 4 the other day to stream stuff to my blu-ray player and now when i start the computer it stops right before windows loads with log in screen where before i had no log in screen.
it goes straight to windows. all i have to do is press enter and it loads into windows. where do i look to stop this from happening? i have looked under user accounts and all that is there is my admin account which is all i have. i run under the admin account and do not create user account.

Run "control userpasswords2", you should find the tweak you need there.

It should be at \Windows\System32\Netplwiz.exe

If it's not, you have bigger problems.

just searched the C drive nothing found. what does that file do?
Honestly, I have no idea beyond that fact that userpasswords2 requires it. But it's a core system file, so it shouldn't be missing. I think it's time for a reinstall.

ok, i did reinstall with the SP1 images from technet today. i installed NHS 4 and got the same thing. i run the command you gave and disabled it in advanced users account and it stopped it from stopping before windows. but now it will not run because it is disabled. what do i need to do to have it run but not do what it was doing?

i get error when i click the link - Access to this resource on the server is denied!
Copy/paste the URL then (they must have hotlink protection).
i just ran the updater for it and have version 4.5.2.0
I mean more with respect to major version numbers. Is there a 5/6/7/etc? I can't find NHE, let alone how old version 4 would be.

there was newer version which the updater would not point to for some reason. 4.5.8.0 which i downloaded and installed. it says for 7 x64 right in description for it, hopefully i do not get any more BSOD now. fingers crossed!!

there is no option for that, there is nothing listed till you select advanced user group. i tried setting a pasword hoping it would then have choice of no password and boot right to windows. no such luck, it corrupted the install and would not start.
