system specs:
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-D
1 x BFG 6600GT
A64 3000 winchester
2 x 512MB ram (ran memtest multiple times with no problems)
1 x 74GB raptor
1 x cdrw/dvd-rom
ps: 400W with appropriate amps on the correct lines
all four power connectors are connected to the board
here is the problem. a friend of mine just bought the above mentioned rig and when he tries to install the os, either xp pro or win2k, it just hangs at the first black screen that says "...is checking your hardware"
now the funny thing is, is that the raptor is not clean and came out of his xp dfi lanparty board. if he just lets it boot up formt he hdd with the old os on it, it found the new hardware and the appropriate drivers were installed. but, he wants, as i would, a zero fill and nice fresh clean format/install.
what would you feel the issue is when trying to install the os from the cd?
any ideas will be greatly appreciated
