I don't know how to fix this, and it's killing my battery life. My logitech cordless elite duo mouse seems to always be on, even when the computer is off. the led is always on and my battery life is terrible (2 weeks on 2AAs). am I missing some key element to this mouse's setup, or is this strangely normal?

Is there a power switch on the mouse? I know there's one on my MX1000.

What connection is it using? USB or PS/2? Did you try switching that around? I know I can still see the red light on my mouse when it's connected to the PS/2 port. When I changed it to USB, it doesn't stay on after the comp is off.

ok i just read on the logitech website that this is actually supposed to happen. They say that the mouse goes to sleep, but the led is always on. kind of sketchy, and i'm still getting subpar battery life. thanks for the help guys

Perhaps some rechargable batteries would be a good idea. Make sure that your mouse has no problem with them before you try though.

My Microsoft mouse does the same thing. If it hasn't been moved it starts to flash the LED slowly, even if I take one battery out.

All wireless mice do this.. Well opticals anyway.

They go into a low power mode where the LED flashes only once or twice per second. The flashing is just to detect movement. If it didn't flash the LED it would never know it was moved and never wake up!

2 weeks seems fairly normal for AA batteries. Especially if you use the mouse at least 2-3 (or more) hours per day. But it varies my mouse model. Some use power more conseratively than others. It can also depend on your mousing habits.... For example I have a tendency to move the cursor along the line of text I am reading, thus I'm keeping my mouse active all the time. :) (I have a Logitech MX700, get about 5-7 days worth before it has to hit the charger...) If I didn't do this it would most likely last longer.

Yeah, I have this exact same mouse (mouseman), and it goes into a "hibernate" mode where it flashes. It is not a problem, just how the mouse works.

Damn!!! I'm lookin at about 1-2 days. I keep an extra in the charger while I'm using the one on my desk, just swap them out when one dies. I guess I game too much.

Chiggachu - two weeks? Man I only get ~4 days from my MX700. You should be glad it lasts that long - seems like a pretty respecatble battery life to me.
