hah! ok. enter does not = space, that was easy too easy.
is not MY keyboard.. is keyboard of young friend of mine, whoistalkingtomeonaimlikethis and it's difficult for him to ask himself, because of that whole.. space = enter (actually, it = enter+space, so he can <shift><space> and carry on a diagonal conversation..) issue!

I think we'll try something else first before we try reinstalling xp.. heh. is logitech itouch keyboard, if that's useful.

eh.. I'll stop posting if you'd prefer but.. I really did think maybe someone here could help. if that was presumptious, I apologize.

ok.. let me ask you this. is it possible that he re-programmed the spacebar somehow? and.. if it is, does anyone have a clue how?

I don't mind if you poke fun at me, that's ok.. but he has homework to do, and it's difficult under these circumstances.. so.. *I* would like to help him if I could, and.. you guys are smarter than I am.. is why I subjected myself to your ridicule... if it helps him, is worth it.

The circuit is probably burnt or crossed. Take it apart and clean the tracks.

well.. that's tedious, but.. at least it'll get his homework done! he's not that young (19.. sophomore at duke), just a lot younger than ME.. he had already taken it apart and "clean the tracks" made sense to him (I had no idea keyboards had tracks), he said he'd try that next.. I told him to reinstall the software and see if that helped.. it didn't.. yet.. so.. that's what he's doing now. I told him that .between.words.made.for.more.readability and is less tedious than alt+0160.. in the meanwhile.. I will wander over to hot deals and see if there's any good deals on new cordless keyboards..
