For about a month now, my parents' computer has been showing garbled crap whenever text is entered in certain fields - like on web forms. Here is a screenshot of the FedEx website. There's a tracking number entered in the field. That's what numbers look like when entered from my parents' computer. It only does this on most web forms though, text is fine on everything else. Any clues what this is? I have NAV 2004 and have done a thorough system inspection, it didn't find anything. Any clues?

when you click enter is the garbage accepted?

I saw something similar on a friend's PC that was 98upgraded to XP, had to reformat.

BTW this really isnt a hardware issue, you might get a better responce in the OS forum, or even software.

That's also weird. When you hit enter, it accepts all of the garbage as if it was normal. Also, if you select the jumble and copy+paste it into Word or notepad even, it shows up as normal. It's almost as if someone got into web settings and changed the font for web forms into one of those stupid fonts like Wingdings that show up as crap when you type stuff - unfortunately, I don't know how to get rid of it. AFAIK, I don't think there is even a setting for web form fonts. :(

I wasn't sure where to put this question, as I don't know for sure what's causing it, and I don't know if it's software, or OS, or ???.

No, but I'm pretty sure not keyboard related...it works perfectly. Text even shows up like that when you copy+paste normal text and put it into a web form, so the KB isn't doing it. It's driving me nuts :(. I really don't want to reformat, but looks like I may have to.

I have ME. Try looking in "Tools" on Explorer, then select Internet Options. When the Internet Option window pops up select Fonts (or maybe Languages) . You may find something there to fix the problem w/o reformating.
