Weird problem in Counter-Strike

I have a really strange problem when I play counter-strike.
If I play for 1-2 hours it usually happens at least 5 times. All of a studden it jerks my mouse around (not the real mouse of course, it just turns me around in the game) and it changes my weapon. That can be quite annoying if you're in the middle of a firefight, to say the least. It doesn't happen in any other game, just CS. I have tried reformatting the computer but the problem is still there. Any ideas?
The computer is an old Fujitsu-Siemens, Athlon XP 1GHz, 128MB RAM, Geforce4MX440 graphicscard with 64MB of memory.

Huh. Do you use an optical mouse, or anything besides a standard 2 button PS/2 ball-mouse? If so, make sure you have the latest drivers.

If your mouse is USB, you might try using a USB to PS/2 adapter.

Make sure you have the minimum number of processes running in the background when you play CS.

You might try switching mice with another system.

Just some ideas.

r u using a scroll mouse? if so... is ur weapon changing button assigned to the scroll wheel? reason i ask is becuz i have an ibm scroll mous (oem'ed by micro innovision), and every once in a while... a webpage i will be browsing will go nuts. it will start scrolling up and down be itself. sometimes, if i just manually scroll up and down... it will stop. other times, it will be a lost cause, and i will have to reboot.

It's a normal non-optic 2button/scroll mouse. The thing is, this problem started all of a sudden. Do you think it could possibly have anything to do with an upgraded gfx card?

Yes I switch weapons with the scroll wheel, but since it doesn't just switch weapon but also turn me around it doesn't seem to be really like your problem =/ I will try using a different mouse to see if it gets any better.. I'll get back to you when I've tried that

note... sometimes the mouse does wierd things like just start moving left and right. it's not as common as the random scroll issue, but it does happen... like once a month or so.

okay. but this happens several times per hour, but only when playing counter-strike..
