Ok I have seen a straight reboot cause of heat with my older athlon....

I have seen normal halt and error with program when voltage was not enough on my p4 northwood....

However I have ran stable 2.5ghz w/ 1.8v for 12 hours....Recently I decided to stress it again after I had a winxp crash I had to repair...Now prime at same speed and voltage will not error out it will just run for a hour or so and pop up a screen saying it encounter a problem and then gives you the standard winxp error reporting form...no freeze up just halted that program...

Whats up??? My temps were only 51c before and 53c this time....P4 should be able to hadle this...Is it my ram crapping out???

Program errrors are signs of unstable CPU's, whether they be in Prime95 or otherwise.

ed. There's usually no clear cut answer. Likely, you just have too much heat. If you think it's the RAM, lower the bus and increase the multi.

I always thought my temps were fine, and that my problem was everything but the heat, but later I learned that the heat was the factor when I got an Alpha 8045, even though my heat only went down 1-2 degrees.

I think it is the ram or winxp itself....

I get no issues or errors in win98....I have seen a error referencing win32k.sys and ntfs.sys....Should I run a check on the harddrive??? My pci is locked at 33mhz pci so nothing should be out of spec...
