Weird Overclocking Problem

Bingy

Hey, i have an XFX geforce 6800 128mb agp card that i cant seem to overclock properly.

Whenever i set any clock speed above spec and hit the 'test changes' button, the test always fails. What could be causing this? I have excellent airflow in the case and my temperatures are excellent (ambient 30, card 48)

Im running windows xp sp2, but had this problem on 2000 pro as well. Doesn't matter what drivers I use, and i get the problem in Rivatuner as well.

BTW, the card is able to unlock flawlessly

wierd, i have the same card, how high are you pushing the clocks when they fail? also are you using rivatuner right now? if so did you check the enable driver-level hardware overclocking box?

i'm pretty sure the answer is "yes" to those questions. i remember seeing a review on newegg where someone explained how to overcome this problem when using rivatuner to unlock your pipes. now if i can just find it....i'll post a link if i do.

okay bingy, help me out, are you using rivatuner now or coolbits? is your card unlocked now? does it do this with pipes locked or unlocked or both?

edit: sorry, but i couldn't find that review that i metioned earlier🙁
