Weird notebook display problem

My brother bought a compaq x1000 laptop a couple years ago and about a month after the warantee ran out the lcd display just stopped working. He called compaq but they wouldnt do sh!t for him because the warantee was up, but he finally ended up talking to their tech support by badgering them enough. The tech support told him the lcd bulb or something like that burned out and that it was going to be like 700 dollars to replace. He gets over it and is just using it with a regular monitor for the last couple months.

So now he gives it to me because its being really slow, and he wants me to just format c and reinstall windows and all his programs fresh. Well i go and turn on the laptop and the damn lcd is working again. WTF??? Then im using it for like an hour and a half , and the screen suddenly goes black again and hasnt worked since. Anyone know WTH is going on here?

Try gently twisting the display, by grasping the left and right side of the screen "frame" with your thumbs toward the top and gently twist...that worked for me when my old NEC display was actling quirky...
YMMV,
Brian
