Weird network drive problem

This weird problem happens at work.
I have just got a folder at server mapped as the R driver. When I double click the R drive, WinXP asks which program to use for opening the file?! But if I use the right mouse key to Explore the R drive, I can see the contents just fine.

Why does WinXP "think" my R drive is an unknown file? But I can explore it just fine. The company IT can't answer the question. Can anyone help me out on this issue?

I saw this sort of thing years ago on Windows 98, but I can't remember how it was fixed. Have you tried disconnecting the network drive and reconnecting it again?

Tried it, but won't work.

But I have connected other folders as different network drivers. Only this particular folder will ask which program. I guess there are some files in this folder act tricky.
