Weird muscle cramp?

Chalk this one up as weird. I've noticed a few times lately that if I'm on my cell phone for more than a few minutes, when I extend my arm again it's like something was really really tense in my arm muscle - it feels very tight and as I extend my arm it stretches, somewhat painfully. It almost feels like where the bicep starts in the crook of your arm.

Now one thing could be that I'm un-knowingly really clenching while on the phone. But could this be some kind of mineral/vitamin deficiency? I do exercise & lift weights, including biceps, but I haven't lifted in a few days & my biceps are not sore in the first place.

Weird.

The only thing I can think of is cubital tunnel syndrome aka cell phone elbow, but where you feel it seem to be off. Still, couldn't hurt to get a bluetooth headset or even use a wired one. As the old story goes- "I told my doc it hurts when I do this, he said don't do that anymore"

I had the same feeling about a year ago, and it persisted for 6+ months. Turns out that it was tendinitis. I am now taking some basic anti-inflammatory drugs, and it doesn't bother me. I had to stop playing disc golf, though.

My arm would hurt any time I would 'squeeze' my forearm to my bicep. Much like the position of holding a phone to your ear. That position allows your tendons to be unstressed. When you extend your arm again, you pull on the tender tendons and it hurts.

Did you over-extend your elbow? Tennis? Disc golf? Preacher curls?

I have this too. If I'm doing dumbell curls and twist the weight at the top of the movement I get a shooting pain starting near my wrist down my forearm into the crook of my elbow. I've had varying degrees of carpal tunnel or tendinitis or something in that arm/wrist/elbow/fingers on and off for years. For a while my pinky and ring fingers would go numb if it was really bad.

I haven't gone to the doc for it since doing lightweight warmup sets seem to help it, but it never fully heals if I'm training. It gets better if I stop training, but almost every lift I do uses whatever muscle/tendon group so that's not an option.

It'd be nice if it would get better but right now it's not painful enough for me to stop doing what hurts it.

Next time you go to the doctor for a general checkup, you may wanna mention it to him/her just in case. Better to be safe than sorry, you know?
