weird mp3 problem

so my friend's ipod crashed and i used a data recovery program to get his 1000+ mp3 songs off it. i randomly tested about 5 mp3s and they seemed to play fine in media player. i then did a virus scan with norton and when i tried to play another file, it comes up in media player as a constant skipping sound like techno music. i tried several and they all came up the same in both media player and winamp. i tried some songs on another computer and it had the same problem. i'm no expert in digital audio but this seems like a weird problem considering that they were playing fine. any ideas?

Do they all skip at the same place in each song?
Is it random skipping?

The 3 that you played originally, do they skip as well now?

the songs won't even play because it is constant skipping that sounds like a techno beat.

It might be that some songs [maybe most] were corrupted. You just happened to be lucky with the ones you played.
Or
It might be something else.

Play all the songs - and salvage the ones that are ok.

Can you dl another track, and play that - just to check if the mediaplayer is ok with mp3.

Did NAV catch anything?
