Weird middle-of-the-night phone call

Phone just woke me up at 2:40 AM. I pick up after a few rings, can't hear anyone on the line, just a series of beeping sounds, and then it disconnected. Of course I can't get a caller ID, it's marked private. WTF.
 
test call by the robbers/killers to check if you were home or not. Better hide before they break in 😛

did this happen to your land line?

Our phone bill was abnormally high this one month about two years ago. We got the phone number that our phone "supposedly" called and gave it a ring. The answer on the other side was a bunch of beeps and whistles. Strange. We cancelled our service soon after the phone company we were with refused to cancel the charges.
 
according to calculations if you stayed on the line and listened to 3 series of beeping sounds while half asleep you are probably a republican.
