Weird lump on my gum

I have this weird little bump on the inside of my top lip, near where it meets the gums. I just noticed it the other day, it hurts. It's about the size of a small pea. The thing is you can't actually see it, and the few times I've had cankers or anything like that you can see something on the surface. This is completely below the surface and isn't visible. I don't use any tobacco products, and I have no family history of oral cancer, but I'm still worried. I'm making an appointment with my dentist but it'll be a while before he can see me, so I'm posting here.

yeah I'm not too worried, I'm otherwise healthy, and haven't been feeling ill or anything.

yeah that's what worries me. At least if it is something they'll hopefully have caught it early enough.

gargle salt water see if it goes away, it could be just minor inflamation caused by some bacteria getting into a wound.

I've had that before, but not that big. Its usually like a white spot and is sensitive, usually goes away on it's own after a few days. I'd get yours checked though as it sounds much bigger.

I used to be a dental assistant and may be able to provide a wild guess..

It might be a cyst. If you have an infection under one of your teeth it needs to drain.. Sometime the drainage can move to the upper edge of your gums.. or possibly into your lip. (If I'm not mistaken) It would basically be like a pimple.

I was thinking possibly a cyst too...it sure feels like one. Any chance they go away on their own?
