Weird lights in the sky?

I saw something similar to what OP is describing about a month ago. There were 4 orange lights that moved similar to how a helicopter would (or a jet/plane were it high enough).

Three were moving in the same direction (south west) and one went west. About 5 minutes later there were 3 more but these were going south east. If I had to guess I'd say they were about a mile apart but and stayed pretty steady in their course.

my guess is that he sees weird lights all the time, not just at night.
