Weird jobs?

So at my university there's a position in the library that stops people from bring food into the library. That's their only job: to sit on a stool and make sure people don't bring in food. They can't read anything or do their homework. They sit right next to the entrance and it gets pretty damn cold sometimes too. It doesn't even work cause there isn't always a person on shift.

why don't they just get a food sniffing dog instead?

While its nice that they probably did that just so they could hire another student, that is just a completely worthless job (and no person would want to do it). Just post a big sign that says you'll be fined or something.

I should clarify that there are people doing this job so it's not just an open position thing.
