weird issue with my E1705 1500 Draft N Card

hi all. ive got a somewhat odd issue with my laptop. i have wireless internet in my house with the WPN824 MIMO router. Now when i first installed the wireless router, everything was fine and i was able to use it just fine. Now, last night my friend came over to show his laptop to me, so i decided to show him my new one as well. he saw that i had wireless, and it was detected in his laptop, i gave him my password, and boom, he was on. so i said ok, im going to connect. IT WONT EVEN RECOGNIZE THAT THERE ARE ANY WIRELESS NETWORKS. Before you ask, i am virus/adware/spyware free. The driver is installed correctly and the card is recognized right in the system. Now, I have about 4 neighbors with wireless, which his laptop also picked up but mine did not. I have checked the connections in the bottom of the laptop and have reseated the card but to no avail. Any ideas before I have to ask Dell for their " technical support" ?
 
I've seen quite a few of the Dell Pre-N cards cause problems. Have you tried completely removing the card from the system? And then reinstalling it with the latest drivers from Dell's website?
