Weird... HL doesn't run on this Win2k system

Every time I try to run Half-Life, the program simply crashed, without even showing anything, only that "This program has generated errors and will be closed by Windows."
Some other small programs don't work either.

These are the specs:

AMD Duron 600 MHz
MSI KT7-Pro
128 Mb PC133 SDRAM
Soundblaster 128 PCI
Voodoo III 3000
Quantum Fireball 20GB

Weird thing is that UT works without any problems.
Can anyone help here?

I had the same problem. This site apparently helped, because I can play HL in W2K all day long now without problems. I ran the HL setup.exe with the APCOMPAT program this site talks about.
