When ever I save a file, or click "browse" on like a file uploading site..ect, windows freezes for a few seconds. This is a fresh install of W7 64bit.

Its a WD3200BEVT

Any ideas?

Update: It seems when I save things, Word, Photoshop, PDFs..ect everything will freeze and the HD light would be lit on solid like it has full activity. when its done saving it goes back to normal.

Very odd issue.

Does it get better if the network is unplugged completely? If you pull the network cable off, or disable the wireless adapter completely?

edit: does not really look like a hard drive problem.

Agree with ElenaP. This type of brief freeze is often the result of something taking over the memory or cache used by the CPU - IOW, some sort of software process.

Windows loves to freeze up on me when I have network mounted ISO images. Even better, the application I'm using was last used to access a network share that doesn't exist any more or is on a different network from the one I'm now on. Depending on what's missing it takes anywhere from a few seconds to 30 seconds to wake back up.

Actually I forgot, my windows 7 copy is not active yet, I need to call in since my Student Key gives me issues if I reformat lol, I think that might be the issue.

I got time to call in now, so Ill see if that fixes it if not, then try disabling wifi and see if I can get it to happen.

Can you fill in your system specs so we can help you better. Thanks

Ive never heard of this kind of problem... Interesting. Just use hd tune and look at the health of the drive if it says ok on all and health good then its not the hard drive for sure. google it in and dl free small app. If you want to rule out hard drive do this.

Then fill in your stuff and we can continue to help you better and well solve this soon.

Open your task manager, then click on resource monitor then see what is hogging up the system.

When you first start out, for the first week or so, Windows, by default, is constantly indexing all your HDDs, etc. Personally, I like to disable indexing because I almost never search for anything in my system.
