I sent this messaged to Newegg but wondered if anyone here had an idea as to wtf is going on...

UPS dropped off a package with a Newegg packing slip addressed to me. It had SO# XXXXXXXX and the package contained a Kingston 2GB Secure Digital Memory card item 20-134-029. Shortly afterward, UPS came back to reclaim the package claiming it was a fraud order. UPS tracking number is 1ZR2197V02000110XX I never ordered that item and I do not see it in my order history on the Newegg website.

I did recently purchase a similar item on eBay and paid via PayPal. Here is the item: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300063992522 I have not received it yet. I WAS shopping on newegg for a similar card but ended up getting it on eBay instead. No order was ever placed at Newegg for the item.

Any idea what the heck is going on?

Thanks,
CxP

Person selling it on eBay ordered it from NewEgg and had it sent to you.

Youve been scammed. It sounds like someone auctioned a card then used a stolen CC to order from the egg and had it shipped to you.

QFT. I've seen this before, this is what happened. You should open a paypal/ebay dispute asap.

pretty clever. Leaves minimal paper trail. don't know how the auctioner got the money tho. Would have to link to a bank if using paypal.

It does sound like you were the victim of an Ebay fraud.

That doesn't stop me from trumpeting my new cause which is to warn people about Newegg's horrific new customer service. See my signature for the cliffs about how I was treated. DO NOT BUY FROM NEWEGG.

I can use my paypal debit to remove funds right after a transaction.

Looks like I got my PayPal refund. Seller said that the reason the item was recalled was because it was the wrong one. I opened the package and saw the item was correct so who knows what the heck happened. All I know is I got my $ back and I'll be running my credit report!

Newegg said the order with them was placed under my name but was cancelled for some type of fraud, the Newegg rep. in the chat session could not be 100% sure why. They thought it might have been because the my name did not match the credit card used to pay for the order. I got the last 4 digits of the card used and it doesn't match any that I have as far as I am aware. Guess the credit report will root out more info..

Thanks for the feedback guys...

Thats surprizing newegg even shipped it out. Newegg is so anal about shipping addresses being on file, I have problems getting stuff shipped to me using my OWN dang credit card.

I don't. NewEgg literally told me that they don't care if my address doesn't match anymore, because I've ordered so many things from them. This was after I had some issues with my bank account's debit card and I e-mailed them asking about the address and how it was failing when it shouldn't have.

You shouldn't need to run your credit report unless you gave the seller your SSN for some reason.

Thanks for the heads up. NEWEGG was so good to me when they were only known by us tech. geeks. Now that they've hit it big...I don't know. I'm very standoffish now.

Big deal. One bad experence. I've ordered hundreds of things from them with no problems. Infact I just ordered 2 things from them last week. I usually order around 20 things from them a year.

Me too, I rather like to watch my parts collect the dust than giving them away.

Well I got my $ refunded without problem and never had any other issues in more than 350 transactions so I don't know what all your paranoia is about...

I've never had any problems with NewEgg. Infact NewEgg and ZipZoomFly are about the only sites I'll order parts from because they have always had great prices and have always been reliable.
Interesting eBay scam. Much more difficult to pick up on ahead of time too.
