I restarted my comp normally.

Upon booting back up, it gave me this message:

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

System32\Drivers\Fastfat.sys

Please attempt to repair the file with the original Windows XP Setup CD-ROM, etc. etc."

my question here is...

What just happened? What happened to this file? And I don't have my original CD anymore, so am I screwed? Can anybody offer any help?

Thanks,
Chris

it looks like all you have to do is just copy the file to WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS and WINNT\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE

can you go to command prompt?
or maybe boot of cdrom

//edit
or boot off xp cd and try repair

how in the world would i install that, seeing as how my comp won't even load into Windows or anything? :-/

Didn't even think of that 🙁 Also the link to d/l the file is dead 🙁 but if you can find another one via google, could copy that to a floppy and see if you can get into a DOS prompt to copy it the folder to where it needs to be at.
